A few weeks ago, I posted about Ashwagandha. Ashwagandha is an herb that supports your nervous system. It can help improve conditions like chronic fatigue, insomnia, chronic stress, and it can also help recovery from a long illness. If you find yourself in fight or flight mode often, Ashwagandha may be an herb that could help you.
All alone Ashwagandha is not really great on your pallet. But mixed in with a few other ingredients. It actually makes a yummy, creamy, and wholesome drink. I’d recommend having it sometime after dinner when you’re winding down for bed.
Ingredients you will need to make your Ashwagandha tea.
- Malk
- Coconut Milk
- Maple Syrup
- Hazelnut Creme
- Ashwagandha Powder
- Vanilla Extract
- Cinnamon
Ashwagandha Tea: Tips for the Recipe
First Tip
I highly recommend getting Malk. I realize that it is expensive. But Malk tastes amazing. And I have found that the more you spend on nut milks, the better the taste will be. Please, don’t scimp on the Malk; you can purchase it on Amazon. But if you choose to use regular dairy milk, go for it. But skip mixing the dairy milk in the blender because it could become too frothy.
Second Tip
Before throwing everything into the pot to warm the ingredients for your tea, I highly recommend putting all of the ingredients into a blender and blending them together. Overall, this just helps the palette to experience a smoother, creamy, foam-like texture. It’s not something you have to do. But it is something that makes a big difference in the flavors coming together.
Third Tip
Your goal is to get it just hot enough. You don’t want to burn away the active ingredients in the Ashwagandha. So warm it to the point where it’s good to drink, but do not bring it to a boil.
Fourth Tip
If one tablespoon of maple syrup isn’t enough add as much as you want. Or maybe you’d rather have it more subtle, than add less. But you can change it. Throw caution to the wind and put as many tablespoons as you wat. Hahaha!!! Do what you like.
Fifth tip
For the Ashwagandha tea, I recommend stirring as you drink it. When I drank my first cup, I noticed that a lot of the herb tended to settle at the bottom, and that last sip was a bit grainy and bitter. To help with this, stir as you drink. And if you’re like me, and you hate the clinking of silverware in a cup, make sure to grab your child’s plastic spoon. Seriously, the clinking has to stop.

Conclusion
And as always, I recommend you ask your doctor before consuming any herbs. You never know how an herb will interact with your body. Each person’s body is different.
Also, in the herbal world most herbs are not meant to be consumed alone. Single herbal mixtures are OK to use. But in herbalism it’s more about the synergy of herbs working with other herbs. I have so much to learn about the synergy of herbal mixtures; I haven’t even scratched the surface. But it’s good to recognize that many herbs work best when they are mixed with other herbs.
So what are some herbs you’ve tried for your nervous system? I’d love to hear all about them in the comments.
