Life Update
We are still in the trenches of the flu. These viruses are tricky. We went a whole 4 days without any signs of illness. We even got our Christmas tree from The Old Grove and were able to decorate. It’s amazing. How is it that when the Christmas tree is lit you just feel calmer? You think the world is finally at peace. The sickness is really done. That you really lucked out. You are in the clear. Maybe it was something he ate?
But then you get a call from the caseworker.
“He threw up. We’re gonna cut this parent visit short.”
My husband goes to pick the kids up. The little guy reached up to Josh to hold him. Josh lifted him up, and he melted into his arms. As he packed them into the car, Josh prayed the entire time that neither of them would vomit in the back seat.
I hear the front door open, and I quickly go to help. Josh looked at the little guy in his arms, leaned over and was about to set him down on his feet. But it happened. The vomit. I quickly grabbed the little guy’s arm and did my best to contain the situation.
From there, it just kept coming.
Whew. We all started falling like flies. Seven out of eight of us, myself included, have fallen victim to the dreaded tummy bug.
But the silver lining? I’ve turned the Christmas tree lights on every day. (Sigh) Whew.
Watercolor Video
This watercolor video was one of my favorites to make. I’ve said it before, and it may sound a little strange. But honey bees posses this sweet sort of happiness about them…and I love it. They simply do what they are meant to do. I love painting them.
The Second Layer-Watercolor Video
This is the second layer on the honey bees. The first layer was the watercolor pencils. The second layer is watercolor. I did the “wet on wet” which is when you use a wet brush with paint and water on wet paper. Before putting the brush to the paper, I sprayed the paper with a water bottle first.
Give The Paint Some Freedom
Ha. I love this so much because if you want to control everything, loose watercolor probably isn’t the style of painting you’d prefer. I wanted to give the watercolor a bit of freedom to travel across the paper. This freedom is actually a relief for me!! I try to control so much in my day, but then I come to paint and let the watercolor decide where it wants to go. For real, it’s like therapy.
