Chronic Illness and doctor’s appointments can be exhausting.
My appointment was today. I can’t even describe to you how nervous I was. Filling out all the paperwork has a way of making you relive the whole illness journey. On top of that, last week marks 5 years of being chronically ill. My mind is heavy with all the things-ya know? Going to a doctor and talking about tests, knowing they could end up being a dead end…(sigh). There has been so many unanswered questions.
I went expecting nothing, but I walked away feeling a little lighter with more hope than I’ve had in awhile.
Chronic Illness: The Doctor Was Amazing
First of all, the doctor was amazing. I could cry. The first thing she told me was, “You are in charge. I can tell you what I think would be a benefit to you, but you tell me what we do.” And suddenly, I felt a little bit of the heaviness lift from my chest. Maybe I don’t have to do this entirely alone? She went through all my history with chronic illness, and she wrote down a plan for me to go through.
Chronic Illness: The Plan
First, she scheduled a blood draw for a few tests.
Spike Protein ABS for Covid – I had to look this up to understand it better. But covid can live in your body and actually cause your body to attack itself. It’s similar to an autoimmune disease. This tests checks to see of the covid spike protein is still in your body.
EBV Titers – This test shows if I have an Epstein Barr virus infection. If so, it means that it was reactivated because I had it when I was in college.
Homocysteine Test– Homocysteine is actually an amino acid. If I have a high level of homocysteine in my blood, I may have a shortage of b vitamins.
Cellular Nutrition Assay & Redox – This video is a lot (overwhelming for me because I’m not familiar with this sort of thing). But they teach about how good nutrition inside your cells is key to recovering from covid. The CNA is a test that reveals the nutrients inside the cell. They mention covid is able to put the body in a hyperactive state. This means that the body damages itself which also reminds me of an autoimmune disease.
Other tests include iron, ferritin, vitamin d, tsh, free t3, free t4, antithyroglobulin abs, reverse t3, and an adrenal function test.
Second, she recommended supplements.
Cellcore Foundational Protocol
Before starting bee venom therapy, she did recommend making sure my drainage pathways were clear and working. Some of the tests above will help us know if my body is detoxing the way it’s suppose to.
In order to keep my drainage pathways open and working, she recommended starting the cell core foundational protocol.
The protocol is a four step process that helps your body detox. I have done some of this protocol. But I hit a wall when my body was unable to process a certain supplement. I ended up stopping the entire protocol. I mentioned this to the doctor. She said to do the protocol, but skip the supplement that made me so sick.
Third, she ordered me epi pens.
Epi Pen Injectors
She also prescribed 2 epi pens. She said that I could go forward with bee venom therapy with all the other supplements she was recommending. Her main concern, which I mentioned before, was that my drainage pathways are clear. If they aren’t, the toxins would stay in my body. That would just make everything worse.
Conclusion
I prayed for the appointment on my way the doctor’s office this morning. I’ve been through this so often and every time the search comes back empty. I mentioned that to the doctor. I told her, “I’m expecting you to find nothing. No one else has found anything.” Her response was, “No, we’ll find something. I have no doubt something will show up.” I loved her optimism; and I hope she’s right. Tests are scheduled for next Thursday. But even if the results come back empty, I’m still planning on moving forward with the bee venom therapy. Time will tell if I’m headed in the right direction. I hope I am.
